Ribs weren't ready and we really wanted to try them. Fried shrimp platter was good, but I was expected fewer & larger shrimp ( not the small shrimp like in a shrimp basket)
We went to Swampwater early evening on a Friday night. We were able to get seated right away and had no issues getting a table. Jesse was our server and she was very good! I especially wanted to eat here because of the charbroiled oysters and their drink selection looked very good. I ended up getting the Swampwater cocktail which came in a large mason jar and was very strong, which was great. We came during happy hour which I believe is from 3 to 6 PM on Friday nights. The four charbroiled oysters were nine dollars and my husband had the jalapeño poppers which were the same price. I then had the fried shrimp with a Caesar salad and the baked beans. The baked beans were phenomenal as well as the oysters. My husband had the jambalaya and as it wasn’t his taste, it’s still was a really good Cajun meal. Would highly recommend and would go back!
We come here once or twice a month and it’s about a two hour drive from Indiana. I usually get the ribs which is a great value for the price. I hardly ever order ribs out but they are perfectly smoked and you can’t beat them. Wife gets the cheese sticks which are unique and very tasty. But their whole menu is vast and so fas everything has been great.
Absolutely delicious! Waitress was amazing! I cannot say enough about how good the food is!! We will be going back for their seafood boils on Thursday evenings
This restaurant was highly rated on Google and now we know why. The char grilled oysters were simply amazing. We have had oysters along the Gulf and East Coast and these were the best char grilled versions we've had. Bryan was our server/bartender and we couldn't have been happier with him. He was informative, personable, and had a great attitude. The bartender that came in later to help out was also top notch. They worked together like bread and butter, great teammates. I felt a slight buzz from one swampwater drink haha and I got to keep the glass. Do not be skeptical due to the outside vibe and location. We too thought because the building was attached to an antique mall and the surrounding area looked tired that this wasn't the place for us. Looks are deceiving and this place reminds you of that. If you're looking for just a drink or a dinner for four don't hesitate to stop. Thank you for everything Bryan and staff.
I have to admit the name 'Swampwater Grill' does not sound very appetizing. It's the reason that I've lived here for 9 years and never tried it. We loved the atmosphere. Cool little spot! I was excited to try their catfish, but unfortunately it wasn't that great. I'll probably not get it again. My Mac and cheese and green beans were very good. Our Waiter was terrible. He'd disappear for long periods and I was left needing a refill for far too long. Overall it was a good experience and I will be back to try something else and hopefully get a different waiter.
Beautiful looking boil but spice level wayyyyy to hot to even enjoy. The manager was top notch! Will definitely be back but will try something else.
While in town visiting some friends they said I simply had to try this place, and I can confirm it is a must visit restaraunt. Their gator bites are well cooked and the fried jalapeños are a nice touch. They cook their catfish perfectly and with a nice Cajun kick. The crawfish etouffe is among the best I've had, and the collard greens are as good as any I've had in the south.
